It's early February and ice fishing has been a wild ride this season on Big Stone Lake. Recent warm weather has chased off many ice fisherman in recent days however, ice conditions are decent shape. Accesses on Big Stone are a little beat up from traffic, but I expect that to self heal with this weeks cooler temps. Ice thickness overall is between 13" and 15", with a thin layer of slush on top.
The bite on Big Stone started out strong in January, with early ice patterns producing limits of fish. More recently the bite has cooled off some, with the best bite occurring in the evening. I suspect that this weeks cooler temps will fire the bite back up, and fishing will resume as normal.
Good Luck!
